DERBY FORMAT and SCORING PROCESS

  • The FAAM Shore Derby is a Catch, Record, Release competition
  • All Manitoba Angling regulations will be enforced and be adhered to by all participants.
  • No lines may be in the water before the derby start time (9am).
  • Once a catch is successfully landed on shore, the angler shall immediately alert a nearby Scoring Team (teams of two volunteers wearing high-vis vests) and present to the team their Derby Scoring Card. Please do your best to keep your fish healthy if the Scoring Team is busy recording someone else’s catch.
  • The Scoring Team will measure the catch using an official FAAM bump board recording to the closest quarter inch. The fish’s tail will be pinched to achieve maximum length. The measurement must touch the next quarter inch line to achieve that score otherwise the score will round down to the last quarter inch line that the fish’s tail crossed.
  • Angler’s name/number, Fish species, and Time measured will also be recorded.
  • The Scoring Team may request to have a ‘hero shot’ photo taken of the angler holding the fish before the angler releases it back into the water.
  • All fish entered/scored in the competition must be released.
  • Only fish caught by participants with a Derby Scoring Ticket will be counted in the derby. Scoring someone else’s catch as your own is strictly against the rules.
  • Derby participants may only fish within the outlined derby boundaries (signs will be clearly posted indicating the furthest points north and south of the derby shoreline permitted).
  • All species are eligible to be scored.
  • The decision of the Derby Director is final.
  • FAAM assumes no liability for those that chose to participate. All anglers do so at their own risk and discretion.
